I did not write this. I found this on a Facebook group that a friend shared with me. I could have used this so many times over the years. I’m putting it here so I can read it whenever I need a reminder. I don’t know who the author is.

Hey girl🤍 Before you go to sleep tonight, I want you to know that you do not have to come to God with the right words. You do not have to have everything figured out. You do not have to understand why this season hurts so much, why certain things changed, why certain people disappointed you, or why the prayer you keep praying still feels unanswered. Some nights, the most honest prayer you can pray is simply, “God… I don’t know.” God, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do next. I don’t know why my heart feels this heavy. I don’t know why I can hold myself together all day and then fall apart the second everything gets quiet. I don’t know what to do with the thoughts I keep replaying, the conversations I wish went differently, the things I never got an apology for, or the questions that still have no answers. I don’t know why I’m still hurting over things I thought I had already healed from. I don’t know why I feel so exhausted even after I’ve rested. I don’t know why I keep trying to be strong when deep down, God, I’m tired of always having to be the strong one. I don’t know what You’re doing in this season. I don’t know what You’re protecting me from. I don’t know what You’re preparing me for. I don’t know why You allowed certain doors to close when I begged You to keep them open. I don’t understand why some people were allowed to walk out of my life when I thought they would always be there. I don’t understand why I had to lose things I prayed so hard to keep. And tonight, God, I’m too tired to pretend that I understand. But You do. You know what I cannot see yet. You know what is waiting on the other side of this. You know every detail of the situation that keeps me awake at night. You know every tear I wiped away before anyone could notice. You know every time I said, “I’m okay,” when I really wanted somebody to look at me and realize that I wasn’t. You know the parts of me that are grieving, the parts that are afraid, the parts that are angry, and the parts that are desperately trying to hold onto faith. So tonight, I’m giving You my unanswered questions. I’m giving You the situation I keep trying to control. I’m giving You the person I can’t change. I’m giving You the memories I keep revisiting. I’m giving You the fear of what might happen next. I’m giving You the disappointment, the confusion, the heartbreak, the anxiety, and every burden I have been carrying like it was mine to solve. God, if all I have left tonight is a tiny bit of faith, please meet me there. If all I can manage is a whisper, hear me anyway. If all I can do is cry, understand what the tears are saying. If I don’t have the strength to make a beautiful prayer out of this pain, remind me that You were never asking for beautiful words. You were only asking me to come to You honestly. Help me trust You with what I don’t understand. Help me believe that silence does not mean You have forgotten me. Help me believe that waiting does not mean You have abandoned me. Help me believe that a closed door can still be protection, that an ending can still be mercy, and that something I’m crying over tonight may one day become the very thing I thank You for saving me from. And God, when my mind starts racing again after I put this phone down, quiet it. When my heart starts reaching for things You are trying to help me release, hold me close. When fear starts telling me that everything is falling apart, remind me that my life is still in Your hands. I may not know what tomorrow looks like. I may not know how this story ends. I may not know what my next step is. But You know. And tonight, that has to be enough. So I’m going to lay my head down and leave the questions with You. I’m going to stop trying to solve tonight what only You can handle. Cover my heart while I sleep. Restore the parts of me that life has drained. Give me peace where I’ve had confusion, strength where I’ve felt weak, and hope where I’ve quietly started losing it. I don’t know, God… But You do. And I trust You with everything I cannot carry anymore. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🤍
